Dr. Kris Kaase has 25 years of assessment, evaluation, curriculum, special education, literacy, early childhood education, and school accountability experience at the school district, state department, and university levels in South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, and now Kansas.

Prior to joining CETE in October 2016, Dr. Kaase served as a consultant for government education agencies, educational organizations, and school districts, developing and implementing evidence-based practices and effective policy. His work focused on providing technical assistance, reports, standard setting, and training regarding assessment and accountability issues. Kaase has provided direct and advisory services to more than 20 US states and territories.

Kaase's leadership ability is recognized at both state and national levels. He has served in several administrative positions, including Director of Student Assessment and Deputy Superintendent for Instructional Programs and Services for the Mississippi Department of Education. At the national level, Kaase served on the National Center for Education Statistics Assessment Task Force, the National Assessment Governing Board Policy Task Force, the board of the Education Information Management Advisory Consortium, the Planning Committee for the National Conference on Student Assessment, and as an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA).
