Biography

Dr. Ngondi Kamaṱuka is the Director of the Center for Educational Opportunity Programs (CEOP) in the Achievement and Assessment Institute. He has been with the University of Kansas since 1987 and has served as academic services coordinator for the Upward Bound program and interim director for the Institute for Educational Research and Public Service (which split into two centers in 2013, the Center for Educational Opportunity Programs and the Center for Public Partnerships & Research). Kamaṱuka holds a master's and doctoral degree in higher education from KU and a bachelor's degree in education from Tabor College. He taught in the KU School of Education for 15 years. He has served as president of the Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MAEOPP), and he also served as the chairman of the board of directors for the Council for Opportunity in Education.

Currently, he is serving as an advisor to a Science in Society Catalyst Grant funded by the University of Liverpool European Commission. The grant provides for projects at the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia; the Children’s University and the ZOOM Children’s Museum in Vienna, Austria; and the University of Tubingen in Tubingen, Germany.

Kamaṱuka is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the KU Unclassified Employee of the Year, the KU School of Education Achievement Award for Professional Staff, and the KU Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa Outstanding Educator.
