Back-to-school goes beyond the classroom
At the Achievement & Assessment Institute (AAI), back-to-school season is more than new schedules or sharpened pencils. We witness students finding their path with the right guidance, teachers focusing on what matters most with innovative tools and assessments, and families and communities providing the foundation every learner needs to succeed.
AAI partners with districts, educators, and communities to create environments where students can succeed. From helping adult learners and veterans navigate academic and career goals to supporting early childhood programs and youth development initiatives, student success is shaped by the communities around them.
“Back-to-school is a reminder that education changes lives,” said Bart Swartz, director of the Center for Reimagining Education (CRE) and the Center for Evaluation and Educational Leadership (CEEL). “At AAI, we’re committed to making sure every teacher, student, and community has the tools they need to thrive.”
At the same time, we work with school leaders to foster inclusive, effective learning while developing digital tools, assistive technologies, and innovative assessments that make education more meaningful for everyone.
“Back-to-school for GEAR UP is all about making sure our students and teachers in our partnering school districts have the resources they need to be successful throughout the year and know that we are here for them,” said Korri Hall, program director of GEAR UP KCMO.
Back-to-school season at AAI underscores that learning extends beyond the classroom. As students return, we continue our vision of bringing research, innovation, and collaboration together to expand access, support educators, and advance learners at every stage.
